HYDERABAD 3 : NEELADRI HILL-VIEWS OF HYDERABAD & B M BIRLA SCIENCE CENTRE

Birla Mandir is a Temple of Hindu Lord Venkateswara, built on a 280 feet (85 m) high hillock called Naubath Pahad on a 13 acres plot. The construction took 10 years and was opened in 1976 by Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mission. The temple was constructed by Birla Foundation, which has also constructed several similar temples across India, all of which are known as Birla Mandir. Besides The Birla Mandir – The Neeladri hill also has the B M Birla Science Centre, B M Birla Museum, Art Gallery as wella s a Dinosarium

  • B.M.Birla Science Museum is an Indian science museum located in Hyderabad, India
  • It comprises a planetarium, museum, science centre, art gallery as well as a dinosaurium
  • The Birla Planetarium is a wing of the Science Centre
  • The planetarium was inaugurated by N. T. Rama Rao, on 8 September 1985 and is one of three Birla Planetariums in India
  • The others are the M.P. Birla Planetarium in Kolkata and B.M. Birla Planetarium in Chennai
  • The B M Birla Planetarium inaugurated in 1985 with spectacular cosmic sky shows is acclaimed to be the best in the world
  • The museum itself was the second phase of the science centre when it opened in 1990
  • The centre also houses India’s first private Space Museum
  • The B.M. Birla Science Museum, inaugurated in 1990 has designed hands-on exhibits based on simple laws of physics, perception, mechanics, optical illusions through mathematical puzzles, optics, electricity and magnetism, vibrations and sound, energy and motors, electronics and Hi-tech to topics like Environment
  • The museum is a unique facility which is dedicated to history of the space program of India
  • The space museum was inaugurated in July 2019 and was curated by Pranav Sharma
  • The Dinosaurium is the newest addition to the planetarium and science center and opened in 2000
  • The one of its kind Dinosaurium, inaugurated in 2000 with 160 million years old best fossil specimens of a Dinosaur, anywhere in the world
